MHJC have accepted the challenge to ‘Speak Up’ and ‘Stand Together’ to stop bullying and spread kindness through a range of Pink Shirt Day celebrations on Friday 18th May. Cultural Dress Day

MHJC's Cultural Dress Day will be held during lunchtime in the theatre on Wednesday 23rd May. There are two categories students can enter: 1.   Traditional Dress - This is the same as previous years - students can wear clothes most commonly seen at formal events in their own (or others) cultures 2.  Cultural Passions - This is a new category.  Students can wear something that represents an aspect of their culture, eg. sport, an animal or an event that is celebrated within their culture.

PPTA Paid Union Meeting

The Board of Trustees has approved the request for members of the PPTA (Secondary Teachers Union) to attend a meeting scheduled for Tuesday 29 May, 2018.  As a result normal classes will stop at the end of Session 3 on that day. The school will remain open with teachers who are not PPTA members supervising students who need to remain at school in their whanau. Mufti Day – $2

May 31

The money raised during mufti day will be donated to an annual Scholarship Fund for a student graduating from Ormiston Senior College who is entering tertiary study, and who has attended the Primary and Junior Colleges in our community.  Each of the contributing schools in the area is making an annual financial contribution to this Scholarship.

Maori and Pasifika Whanau Evening

All are welcome to our Maori and Pasifika Whanau Evening this Thursday 31st May in the staff room starting at 6:30pm (please go to reception). The purpose is to meet and greet the new Maori and Pasifika Coordinator, Matua Brent and to share ideas for the school – ways of developing relationships and involving our Maori and Pasifika Whanau into the MHJC school community. Light snacks and drinks provided.
